Restoration and repair to masonry stone cills, heads and surrounds to a private property in Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Removing years of decaying stone coatings, repairing cracked stone, and finished in specialist mineral stone coating.

The stone and window surrounds were also sealed.

The natural stone cills, heads, and stone surrounds had been coated with numerous paints over the years prior to the current home owner acquiring the property.

The stone and layers applied to it had since decayed to varying degrees across the front two sides of the property, particularly in the two bay window surrounds.

Several areas were also affected with retained damp.

We carried out a series of works to firstly remove as much of the various stone coat layers as possible without causing any upset to the original stone substrate.

We then repaired any areas of damage specified and resolved the issues with water ingress and dampness penetrating into and through the natural stone substrate.

Once repaired, all the stone was coated in a specialist mineral stone coating in the colour chosen and specified by the home owner.

Finally, we then sealed the stonework in a breathable stone sealer and sealed the window surrounds.

This would protect the stone from the affects of weathering, algae, etc, and help the stonework look as fresh as possible for longer.
